Epic battle: SOPA vs. Epic Games

As time is ticking and SOPA is about to be discussed in the USA’s congress, many companies are taking a side: pro or against this bill. You can see the bill here

The Stop Online Piracy Act gained many “big fishes” around, like the Motion Picture Association of America, Microsoft and Apple.

Some unconfirmed names supporting SOPA are Sony, Electronic Arts and Nintendo.

Detractors of this bill are: Facebook, Google, Mozilla, Zynga, Twitter and, of course, Epic Games.

New CEO

Thompson was unveiled as Yahoo!’s new CEO before market open on Wednesday, ending a four-month search that followed the ouster of his controversial predecessor, Carol Bartz. Thompson most recently served as president of PayPal, a unit of eBay(EBAY). PayPal President Scott Thompson has been appointed CEO of Yahoo!

Speaking during a conference call with analysts on Wednesday, Thompson explained that he wants to improve Yahoo!’s ability to serve both users and advertising partners.

“One of the great things that we were able to achieve at PayPal was balancing the consumer need with the merchant need,” he explained. Read full post here…

Software API Integration is Not Always the Right Way Forward

Spend anytime among the cloud-computing crowd like we do at VM-Associates and you’ll soon find that API integration is a hot-topic. How friendly or unfriendly a given app’s API is, how many native integrations it has, the price-point at which API reference keys become available: all those factors are huge selling points for online business software and a major consideration for would-be consumers.
